Error Messages
General

When using ANY software program, you may from time to time encounter an error message.  Errors can be caused by many different things, and more often than not, the error is NOT caused by the program being used at the time.

Software programs are coded to utilize the features of the operating system, the basic operating
System Files and functions.  When an error takes place, the software program is "notified" by the operating system and the program displays an error message.  All that really occurs is that the program reports to the user what Windows is "telling" it.

It may appear that the program being used is responsible for the error, but in fact, it is only reporting on the current state of the operating system, in the form of an error message.  Sometimes these error messages look like gibberish. (only a programmer understands it)

When Windows "tells" Cool Page an operating system error has occurrred, Cool Page informs the user, usually with language that you can understand.  Cool Page is "smart enough" to interpret what Windows has told it and then translate the error into user friendly language!

Below are some example Windows error messages:
The usual cause of this error is that Windows will not allow the file to be copied, used or saved because Windows or a Windows program such as Explorer is "still using the file", even though it is not apparant to you that the file is in use.

If you encounter this error when attempting to save or export a page, try to save or export again and this time Windows may permit the action to complete.

If failure continues, try deleting the DESTINATION file as specified in the error message.  Although there are times where a file might genuinely still be "in use", we have also observed cases where Windows will never realize the file is no longer in use and the only solution is to delete the destination file, so that the source file can be successfully copied on next attempt.
Example 2 - Ilegal Operation Error

If you see this error it does NOT meant that you will be arrested or that you have done anything wrong!  Clicking the Details Button will reveal the Windows operating system message.  This error is an indicator that Windows is not functioning properly and usually restarting your computer will fix things.
Sometimes, an Illegal Operation Error can be caused by viruses or virus-like software, or when a software program that was installed has replaced important Windows System Files with it's own files.  As a result, Windows will not work correctly and these errors may be frequently experienced while using different programs.

Cool Page does not replace any Windows System files when it gets installed and works on all computers with the Windows operating system in good condition.
