Thumbnail Images |

What is a Thumbnail Image? A thumbnail is a smaller version of a larger image. It is an image that has been reduced in size (dimensions) and is used on a webpage as a link to the larger, higher quality images that you would like your viewers to see. Thumbnails can also be used to link to other files and webpages. Examples |
JPG Thumbnails One of the most powerful features of Cool Page is the ability to resize images right inside the Cool Page window. Thumbnails are mainly used for photo-type images in the .jpg format. Cool Page can create optimized* resized thumbnails of your .jpg images. 1. Import your JPG image onto your page using the Import button or the Insert Menu or drag+drop an image onto the page. |
2. Resize the image to how you want it by dragging its sides with your mouse. 3. Right click the image to open the Image Object Properties window and then click on the General Tab. 4. Put a check in the box that says Constrain Proportion. This will ensure that the resized image proportions will be the same as the original image proportions. The resized image will not be distorted. Then click the OK button. |
5. Use the Browse... button on the Links Toolbar to link the Thumbnail to the image or to another file or webpage. |
GIF Thumbnails You can resize a GIF image in Cool Page by dragging it's edges with your mouse. However, Cool Page does not automatically optimize resized GIF images at this time. A future version of Cool Page may have this feature. (a non-optimized GIF will look blurred or distorted) Therefore, it is recommended that you resize your GIF image using a graphics editor or with a program that specializes in the creation of Thumbnail images. note: Many graphics editors do not create optimized GIF images. Use an editor that has this capability when making GIF Thumbnails. Such editors and Thumbnail programs can be found at DownloadFAST.com or Tucows. 1. Import your GIF Thumbnail image onto your page using the Import button or the Insert Menu or drag+drop an image onto the page. |

2. Use the Browse... button on the Links Toolbar to link the GIF Thumbnail to the image or to another file or webpage. |
* Cool Page can "optimize" a JPG image by constraining the proportions of the
image so as not to distort it. For instance, an image that has a width
of 100 and a height of 50 means that the width is twice as large as the height.
The proportions are 2-1. It is possible to retain the image proportions
when resizing the image smaller or larger. top |
